COVID Cases Increasing in LA, New Testing Site Opens to Help Slow the Spread

California company offers multiple tests and flexible scheduling options as Delta Variant spreads

As the highly contagious Delta variant rapidly spreads across California, Los Angeles residents may be wondering how to keep their community safe from another surge in COVID-19 cases. To help individuals monitor their health, California based Phamatech Laboratory and Diagnostics, Inc. (Phamatech) opened a new drive-up testing location in Los Angeles. Phamatech’s new Los Angeles testing site is located at 2730 N. Main Street and is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday.

“With the Delta Variant spreading in California and around the globe, testing is as important as ever, so the Phamatech team is excited to make this essential need as easy and accessible to the Los Angeles community,” said Dr. Thomas Aucoin, Vice President at Phamatech. “We are eager to support individuals living and traveling to Los Angeles for business and vacations so they can keep their loved ones safe, just as we have done for those in San Diego and Las Vegas.”

Although walk ins are not accepted, anyone can schedule an appointment for same day testing at https://www.phamatech.com/index3.php/covid-19-testing-los-angeles/ and choose from a variety of testing options including a PCR test, Rapid Antigen test, or a Neutralizing Antibody test. Those who have Medicare or Medicaid insurance can easily book an appointment, too.

Phamatech’s nucleic acid (by high throughput PCR) tests, priced at $120, will determine if someone is currently infected with the coronavirus. The test will be performed by a Phamatech healthcare worker using the FDA EUA authorized Thermofisher PC method using a nasal swab sample. The Rapid Antigen tests, also priced at $120, provides results of a COVID-19 diagnosis within 1 hour. The test will be performed by a Phamatech health care worker using the FDA EUA authorized CareStart™ COVID-19 Antigen test. The Neutralizing antibody tests, priced at $95, will determine if someone has previously had the coronavirus, and provides a numeric result generally under 24 hours.

Phamatech is based in San Diego where it has been operating a high complexity CLIA laboratory since 2008. These dedicated scientists have been manufacturing diagnostic products for over 25 years and has over 100 FDA approved tests.
